King Edward VI College in Nuneaton is looking to appoint an independent co-opted member to its Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee is an important subcommittee that advises the main Board on the adequacy and effectiveness of its assurance framework. Its remit is to provide an independent oversight of governance that includes risk management and internal controls; external and internal audit arrangements; financial reporting; compliance; whistleblowing and fraud.
The Committee meets approximately four times per academic year, normally on a Tuesday evening at 5pm. The role is voluntary, although reasonable travel expenses can be claimed.
As a specialist Sixth Form College, the majority of our students are aged 16-18 and studying a Level 3 programme. At its last Ofsted inspection in May 2015, the College was rated ‘Good’. We offer a wide ranging and complementary mix of academic and vocational subjects. Turnover was circa £5m in 2015/16.
Applicants must hold a relevant and recognised professional qualification (or equivalent), with experience in audit, risk management and corporate governance from working at a senior level in either a commercial or public-sector environment. Good communication and interpersonal skills, and an understanding of the context in which the College operates, are also required.
