Why study Mathematics – GCSE?
This course is compulsory for anyone who achieved a grade 3 or less in GCSE. Additionally, anyone wants to improve their grade can take this course.
We will cover the topics required at Foundation GCSE to give you access to a grade 4 or grade 5
There will be a mixture of teacher explanation and also student paired or group work. We will assess regularly so that you are aware of your progress and areas for development.
GCSE maths grade 4 is considered a standard pass and as such is an access qualification for many courses / careers and apprenticeships. Some universities are asking for grade 5. It is wise to check the requirements of the institution or training course you are hoping to go on to.
How many hours per week?
Teaching contact time is 4 hours and 20 minutes per subject. Students are expected to complete up to 4 hours of independent study to complete assignments, homework, extra reading and independent research.
Grade 3 or less in GCSE Mathematics
There will be 3 papers. You may wish to have a go in November but we will treat the course as a whole year with students sitting their papers in May / June.
