We are King Edward VI College’s Students’ Union
Where students are at the heart of everything we do.
We the Students’ Union work on behalf of all students to ensure that we are all represented when important decisions are taking place. We work with the Senior Leadership team to share the views of the students and what they need and want. Anything that affects our students, we will make sure your opinion is heard.
Although you’ll find student leadership platforms at most schools and colleges, we are different because:
We are protected by a formal constitution: All of our positions were made by students, for students and are completely separated from other staff roles. All roles can be applied for once the elections process opens!
Independent Manifestos: All members of the Student Union have their own aims and goals for the academic year, which they share when running for election. This could be anything from increasing the amount of plug sockets in a specific area to end of year events.
We are students! All members of the Student Union are members of the college, meaning we are your age, your peers. This makes it easier to address your concerns, you don’t have to wait until a teacher is free; you can speak to us!
Communication: We have officers that partake in college-level decisions, meaning that changes are always shared with student representatives. We can present ideas from students, our own policies, and comment on college decisions to ensure the outcomes benefit our students.
We know that your time at King Edward VI College will only be short, but as a union here by your side, we will be able to support you in the best way possible. The most important thing to remember is that we are a diverse, independent-minded, supportive community. If you want to get involved, simply have a question, or have some ideas on how to improve the college, we will always be by your side.
