Stage Society

Are you a keen performer? Do you want to continue to develop your skills? Do you want to learn more about the world of theatre? Some of you may have been involved in productions at school and want to continue to explore this passion alongside your other subjects.

Why should you do this subject?

This is an ideal LinC activity for anyone who wants to continue to develop their performing arts skills and find a creative release. This is an opportunity to immerse yourself fully in the practical side of performance and dabble in production elements.

What activities are undertaken?

Over the course of the year, we will explore a range of performance skills. The main focus will be on the core performance areas of acting, singing and movement but we will also look at comedy, writing, directing and production. You will learn how to use your voice effectively and be able to communicate character to your audience. We will work towards showcases in both the Autumn and Spring term which will be a collaborative effort and led entirely by you as students. By planning this together, you will learn how a performance goes from the seed of an idea to the final product. Not only will students be responsible for rehearsing their performance but they will also need to work together to create and market their showcase events.

What skills will you learn?

Other than performance skills, you will also develop the following which are important transferable skills:

-Teamwork & collaboration
-Communication
-Public speaking
-Interpretation
-Confidence
-Event planning and management
-Problem solving
-Commitment
-Organisation
-Leadership
