Students band hits the road

Five students from King Edward VI College in Nuneaton have formed a band and have a range of gigs lined up for the year ahead.

Formed in June 2013 the band, The Company, are a 5 piece Melodic Post-Grunge band playing mainly original songs, with a few covers thrown in.

The five members are all in full time study at the college covering a range of subjects including Photography, Maths, Electronics, Psychology and of course Music.

Jessica Bewell from Hinckley is on vocals; Kieran Dawson, vocalist and guitarist, and Michael Baxter, bass guitarist, are both from Stoke Golding; Rory Vickers, drummer and Matt Sanders, lead guitar, are both from Nuneaton.

Having already played at several venues including the Shed in Leicester, The Railway Tavern in Nuneaton and Karns in Hinckley; their next performance will be at Harry’s Bar in Hinckley on Friday 9th May at 8.30pm.  Entry is free and the band will be playing some new material.

They also supported a recent Charity Gig organised by the college and held at The Queens Hall in Nuneaton.  Over £250 was raised for the British Heart Foundation.

Vocalist and guitarist Kieran Dawson said “Everyone in the band’s passion is music. If we’re not playing music, we’re listening to it, and if we’re not listening to it, we’re thinking about it. King Edward’s College has really helped us to progress our music. If we had not all come to KEGS, we would not all have met, and wouldn’t be able to collaborate in the way we have”
