Choosing the right Study Programme is important to ensure that you are working to the best of your ability and in a way that suits your learning style, however it is also important to choose a combination of courses that will help progress you to the next step in your career plans.
When considering your pathway and type of programme, suitability to the combination of courses should be based on the information provided below. These are not the college entry requirements for the courses, these are available on the course information pages, but advice that is based on over 45 years of experience in the sixth form sector.
ACADEMIC – All A-level
Your likely background: You will have GCSE grades at 6 or above. You may prefer examinations but would be happy with some coursework components.
Our curriculum offer: You will be comfortable sitting all your exams at the end of the 2 year programme of study.
Your progression opportunities: You are likely to be aiming for a place at university.
ACADEMIC – Mixed A-Level & Vocational
Your likely academic background: You are likely to have a mix of GCSE grades, mostly between 4 and 6. You will be confident with written examinations but are also happy with regular coursework deadlines.
Our curriculum offer: You will prefer not to sit all exams at the end of the 2 year programme.
Your progression opportunities: You are likely to be aiming for a place at university and need the best possible grade profile to maximise your chances.
VOCATIONAL – All Vocational
Your likely academic background: You are likely to have a mix of GCSE grades, mostly at grade 4/5. You may be more confident with regular coursework deadlines but are also happy to sit some exams.
Your progression opportunities: Vocational qualifications are valued by employers and can lead to apprenticeships. Equally you may progress onto Higher Education at University.
