This year our students were fortunate to be able to access both face to face and virtual Work experience opportunities. Understandable the majority of these were virtual this year.
However this allowed our students were able to experience opportunities that wouldn’t usually be accessible to them due to issues such as distance. We received funding from WCC to be able to set up the work experience from scratch which was trialled on a small number of interested students.
We were very lucky to have been able to supported by some amazing organisations over this time, and would like to say a big thank you to Willmot Dixon, for offering a bespoke programme for five students, the Crown Prosecution service for selecting seven students for a two day insight into the careers available in the CPS, and some interactive case studies for students to be involved in. Small Business Caviar and Chips in Kenilworth where one student was given the opportunity to be involved in Wedding and Events Planning and was able to have a look behind the scenes of how a business is run. Redmoor Academy in Hinckley also got involved allowing one of students onsite to experience what it may be like to work in a school.
We are looking forward to being able offer this to a greater number of students next year and for the first time will be offering this as part of our LinC Enrichment programme and work with other employers such as Severn Trent Water and the NHS.
