King Edward VI College remains a ‘Good’ Provider after recent Ofsted Inspection

The staff and students at Nuneaton’s specialist Sixth Form College, King Edward VI, are celebrating their latest Ofsted inspection in November 2017, which applauded the fact that “teaching, learning and assessment remain Good”,  and the college overall was once more rated as a ‘Good’ provider.

The report, mentioned the “proportion of students who successfully gain their qualifications has risen steadily in each successive year since the last inspection”, and “the number of students who progress onto a range of positive employment, education and training destinations, including higher education, is exceptionally high”.
Ellie Jones the leader of the student union said “we are so pleased that the hard work and independent ethos of the students shone through in the report”.

The report identified the strengths of the college in providing a wide range of courses, both academic and vocational, allowing students to respond to the needs of the local economy and make “informed next step career decisions”.

College Principal Uly Lyons said he was very happy with the outcome of the inspection and particularly so that the supportive atmosphere of the college was frequently recognised in the report. He added “I am proud to be associated with this college, which offers so many opportunities for 16-19 year old young people in Nuneaton and the surrounding areas to fulfil their potential in a supportive learning environment.”

Chair of Governors, Stuart Stanley was also delighted with the report saying, “The recent judgement from Ofsted is a testament to the continued hard work from staff and students across the college. The inspectors recognised the developments staff have achieved and the impact this has had on improving results. The recommendations from Ofsted will feed into the College’s development plans as we strive to improve even further.”

The full inspection report can be found on the college website and applications for September 2018 are currently being taken.
