Ofsted Joy for Sixth Form College

Staff and students at King Edward VI College are celebrating after a glowing report from Ofsted Inspectors this month.

Warwickshire’s only Specialist Sixth Form College based at King Edward Road in Nuneaton was graded GOOD across every aspect of the College’s provision.

A team of 5 inspectors undertook a full inspection of the college between 28th April to 1st May 2015.  The inspection covered all aspects of the college provision including: student results; the quality of teaching and learning; the effectiveness of leadership and management; and safeguarding.

Inspectors were particularly impressed with the students behavior saying they were “polite and respectful and their attendance and punctuality is exceptional”.

The inspection report is clear: “the college is an inclusive environment characterised by high levels of respect between staff and students.”

The subject specialist inspectors reported that “pass rates are now very high for all subjects”.

This latest news is another milestone for the college that has seen results and retention continue to climb over the last 5 years. Principal Dr Esther Maughan said “King Edward VI College is a special place. The inspection team quickly picked up on the atmosphere and work ethic of our College. There is nowhere more caring, more nurturing or more supportive of students than King Edward VI College in Nuneaton. This inspection report is a testament to the fantastic outcomes that our staff and students have achieved by working together and our town and community can take pride in having a successful, high performing, specialist sixth form college.

The college is still taking applications for this September.   For a copy of the full report please visit www.reports.ofsted.gov.uk
