Student Reps have the important role of representing the college at events and giving student feedback. They promote student engagement and help to create a positive, inclusive environment. Students that take on this role have the opportunity to improve their teamwork, organisation and communication skills.
Events
During events they greet visitors, parents and new students and speak with them about college life while helping them around the college site. They create a welcoming environment and act as a friendly face, supporting new students at the start and throughout their college journey. Student Reps also support the college and wider community by organising their own events and raising money for charities.
Student Voice
Student Reps act as a voice for students by giving feedback on a range of topics. There are regular Student Assemblies which are an opportunity for Student Reps and Ke6 Unity (the college’s Student Union) to meet to celebrate students’ achievements and gather wider college feedback. There will also be meetings arranged specifically for Student Reps to attend, including briefings before an event.
Head Student Rep
Student Reps can progress to be Head Student Rep. To qualify for the role they must have exceeded the requirements to be a Student Rep during their first year at college and have high attendance. This experience and commitment allows them to effectively support and lead other Student Reps. They also join Ke6 Unity which gives them extra responsibility and increased commitment to the role.
How to apply?
To join as a Student Rep you must apply for the role. If you are interested please look out for an email around the start of the academic year (September/October) stating that recruitment has now opened. You will then be asked to submit a written statement of interest and if you are successful you will be invited to attend an interview.
Requirements
*Attendance above 95% (unless extenuating circumstances)
*Commit to helping at a minimum of 3 events and attending 3 meetings throughout the academic year including Student Assemblies
*Committed to attending lessons, progress sessions and Student Rep meetings
*Friendly and approachable and wants to support students
