Why study Sport (Level 2)?

This qualification aims to give students the introductory skills and knowledge to start a career in sport of progress into employment within the sector. It prepares students for higher or further education, through full-time or part-time study. Students will learn about anatomy and physiology for sport and exercise, as well as the principles of healthy exercise and nutrition. Students will organise, lead and participate in sport activities, and undertake volunteering in a sport-related role. Students will develop the key attributes of communicating effectively and adapting their approach to completing varied assessment activities. 

Who should apply?

This course is designed for students who wish to pursue further study or employment within the sport and leisure industry. Students are not required to be part of any sports team in or out of college to be successful on this course, however they must be willing to engage in practical lessons covering a range of sports, from badminton to volleyball.  

 

Upon successful completion of this qualification, with a merit grade or higher, students will be well-positioned to progress to our Level 3 Extended Certificate or Level 3 Diploma in Sport. Other progression opportunities could be moving directly into employment within the sport and leisure industry, including via apprenticeships.
