Why study GCSE Maths?

GCSE maths foundation course designed to get students to a minimum of grade 4. GCSE grade 4 is often a minimum requirement for higher education and many careers.

This will revise your knowledge of the GCSE course and you will have an opportunity to learn areas of maths that you found more challenging in the past.

Mostly direct teacher instruction. There is no coursework. We do use online platforms such as Corbett Maths and MyMaths.

This is an access course that will enable you to take courses at level 3.

(Entry requirements are reviewed periodically and may be revised)

How many hours per week?

Teaching contact time is 4 hours and 20 minutes per subject. Other workshops will be available throughout the year. Students are expected to spend a minimum 4 hours of independent study to complete assignments, homework, extra reading and independent research.

The course is designed for students who have not achieved a grade 4 at GCSE. We do occasionally get students who have achieved this and are looking to improve. We are happy to be flexible and accommodate this.

Pearson

Assessment is through 3 papers sat at the end of the course in May / June. There is also an opportunity to resit in November.
